Naming Convention

For new productions, please use the new naming convention and assign each card with a unique roll name.

Keep the roll name fewer than 31 characters and refrain from using any special characters.

Clips do not need to be renamed; the priority is making sure everything is organised according to the roll names.

Please also make sure the card number is continuous and doesn’t reset back to 001 (so you’ll only ever have one roll with a card number A001 per episode).

ARCHIVE

All Archive rolls should start with ARC_ followed by the roll number (_000), Master or Screener (_M/S), & description (_DESCRIPTION)

  • For Video/Stills Screeners – add ‘S
  • For Video/Stills Masters – add ‘M
An example of an Archive roll (with masters) will look like this:

ARC_001_M_PRODUCTION_DESCRIPTION

ARC_001_UE6_POND5
ARC_002_UE6_ALAMY
ARC_003_UE6_GETTY

CGI

These rolls always start with GFX_ followed by the roll number which is continuous (_NUMBER), name of the production (_PRODUCTION), & name of the episode (_EPISODE NAME)

Example: GFX_01_PRODUCTION_EPISODE NAME

GFX_01_UE6_LUXOR
GFX_02_UE6_LUXOR
GFX_03_UE6_LUXOR

This will help both MCR and Production. In the EDL’s you will request near picture lock, you will be able to recognise the archive very clearly.
